You decide who can reach you on Vibnelo. Here are the controls you have, and what to do when something feels wrong.

Who can message you

Choose in Settings → Privacy → Direct messages:

  • Friends (the default): only your friends can message you.
  • Everyone: people who aren't your friends can also send you a message request.
  • No one: nobody can message you.

Messages are text (up to 1,000 characters) and hooks shared from Vibnelo; a hook can carry a short note. Photos, videos and voice messages can't be sent. To keep spam out, there's a limit on messages per minute and per day and on new requests per day, and new accounts can't send requests in their first hour.

Message requests

A message request is one message from someone who isn't your friend. You choose:

  • Accept: they can send you more messages.
  • Delete: the request is gone, and they aren't notified.
  • Block: see Blocking below.

Until you accept, they can't send more, and they don't see that you read it. Links can't be sent in a request.

Blocking

When you block an account:

  • they can't message you, send you friend requests, comment on your hooks or see your profile;
  • you don't see each other's hooks or comments;
  • the friendship and the follows between you are removed.

They aren't told. To unblock, go to Settings → Privacy → Blocked accounts, or open their chat or profile.

Reporting

Report anything that breaks the community guidelines:

  • A hook or a person: Share, then Report.
  • A comment: Report under it.
  • A message: report it in the chat. Only the two people in a chat can report its messages.

Choose what's wrong and add details if you want. When three different people report a comment, it is hidden until we check it. For copyright and voice claims, see Copyright & reports.

What moderators see

Vibnelo doesn't read your private messages. The only exception is a report: when someone in a chat reports a message, we get that message and up to 5 messages before it in the same chat, so a moderator can understand what happened. When the report is decided, that copy is deleted; the decision is kept.

For a hook, a comment or a person, a moderator sees what was reported, with the reason and details given in the report. Moderators can remove content, including messages, and restrict or ban accounts.

Read receipts and activity status

Chats show when a message was seen ("Seen") and when someone is typing. You can turn read receipts off in Settings → Privacy; while they're off, you don't see anyone else's either. Your activity status ("Active now") is shown only to your friends, and you can turn it off.

Private account

With a private account, only your friends see your liked hooks, reposts and hit calls. Your profile, name and hooks stay visible.

You can also choose:

  • who sees your liked hooks: Everyone, Friends or Only you;
  • whether your friends see what you're listening to;
  • who can comment on your new hooks by default: Everyone, Friends or Off. You can change it for each hook.

Keyword filters

Add words you don't want to see: hooks whose title, lyrics or artist contain them are hidden from you. Your filters are stored with your account.

Screen time and breaks

Vibnelo can show your time in the app today, remind you when you reach a daily limit, and remind you to take breaks. All of it is counted and kept only on your device.

Staying safe

  • Don't share passwords, your recovery key or personal details, like your address or phone number.
  • Vibnelo will never ask for your recovery key. If someone does, don't give it to them, and report them.
  • You don't owe anyone a reply. They aren't told when you delete their request or block them.
  • If someone pressures you, threatens you or makes you uncomfortable, block and report them.

In an emergency

If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services right away. Vibnelo isn't an emergency service. You can report the content to us as well, once you have called for help.
